Neutral Nursery

Bright, calm, and neutral-colored nurseries always caught my attention on Pinterest. So when it came time to start decorating our daughter's nursery, I knew I wanted a space that felt cheerful and bright, but also a soothing atmosphere for us both.

We are currently living in a home owned by a family member that we're renting, as we save to buy our first home in the next year or two. We've already done a lot to the house since we moved in one year ago to make it feel like home, but we were done putting money into a house that wouldn't be ours for much longer. The room had dark trim, walls that reminded me of a manila folder, and brown carpet. The challenge: create the space I pictured on a small budget, with little to no remodeling required.

Below is a picture of the room before. It was just drab and dark. I didn't want to spend a single minute in this room as it was.

I knew we'd be painting the trim white to match the rest of the house that we had already done, and I wanted the walls to almost appear white, but still pop against the trim. Originally we planned to rip up the ugly carpet and do laminate wood flooring. However, the more we thought about this unnecessary expense on a house that wasn't even ours, we decided to cover it with a rug instead.

In the end, we created the perfect nursery for our baby girl and love spending time in there. We even had her newborn pictures taken in her room.

Check out the finished results below! And if you see something you like, I've linked everything at the bottom of this post!
